내가 교회다니는 이유....(퍼온글)

An atheist professor of philosophy speaks to his

class on the problem science has with God, The Almighty.

어느 무신론자 철학교수가 하나님과 과학의 문제를 학생들에게 말하고 있었다




He asks one of his new Christian students to stand.....

그 교수는 크리스천인 어느 한 학생에게 물었다




Professor: You are a Christian, aren't you, son?

교수: 자네는 크리스쳔이지? 맞나?




Student : Yes, sir.

학생:네, 교수님




Prof: So you believe in God?

교수: 그래서 하나님을 믿나?




Student : Absolutely, sir.

학생: 그렇습니다




Prof: Is God good?

교수:하나님은 좋으신가?




Student : Sure.

학생: 네




Prof: Is God all-powerful?

교수: 하나님은 능력이 있으신가?




Student : Yes.

학생: 네




Prof: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed

to God to heal him. Most of us would attempt to

help others who are ill. But God didn't.

How is this God good then? Hmm?

교수: 내 동생은 암에걸렸었습니다 그래서 하나님께 낳게 해달라고 간절히 기도했었죠 우리는 아픈사람을 낳게 해달라고 같이 기도했었죠 그런데 하나님은 그 기도를 안들어 주셨어요

근데 어떻게 하나님이 좋다고 할수있죠?




(Student is silent.)

학생은 아무말이 없었다




Prof: You can't answer, can you?

Let's start again, young fella. Is God good?

교수: 대답할수없나? 그럼 다시 시작하지

하나님은 좋으신가?




Student :Yes.

학생: 네




Prof: Is Satan good?

교수: 사탄은 좋은가?




Student : No.

학생: 아니요




Prof: Where does Satan come from?

교수: 그럼 사탄은 어디서 왔나?




Student : From...God...

학생: 하나님..... 한테서요......




Prof: That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?

교수: 맞아요, 그럼이제 말해보게? 이 세상에 나쁜것들이 있나?




Student : Yes.

학생: 네




Prof: Evil is everywhere, isn't it? And God did

make everything. Correct?

교수: 나쁜것은 어디나 있지 안그런가? 그리고 하나님께서 모든것을 창조하셨어 맞나?




Student : Yes.

학생: 네




Prof: So who created evil?

교수: 그럼 누가 나쁜것들을 만들었지?




(Student does not answer.)

학생은 대답하지 않았다




Prof: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness?

All these terrible thing exist in the world, don't they?

교수: 병이 있나? 부도덕한게 있나?증오가 있나? 추한게 있나? 이 모든 안좋은것들이 이 세상에 존재하지 아닌가?




Student :Yes, sir.

학생: 맞습니다




Prof: So, who created them?

교수: 그럼 그것들은 누가 만들었지?




(Student has no answer.)

학생은 다시 대답이 없었다




Prof: Science says you have 5 senses you use to

identify and observe the world around you. Tell me,

son...Have you ever seen God?

교수: 과학은 자네가 세상것에있는 것들을 확인할수 있고 인정할수 있는 5가지 센스를 가지고 있다고 말하고 있지 이제 말해보게 자네는 하나님을 봤나?




Student : No, sir.

학생: 아니요



Prof: Tell us if you have ever heard your God?

교수: 그럼 말해보게 하나님의 음성을 들어본적이 있나?




Student : No , sir.

학생: 아니요




Prof: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God,

smelt your God? Have you ever had any sensory

perception of God for that matter?

교수: 당신은 당신의 하나님을 느껴본적 있나? 맞본적 있나? 냄새를 맡아본적 있나? 자네는 저 요소들을 바탕으로 하나님을 느껴본적있나?




Student : No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.

학생: 아니요 그렇지 못했다는게 안타깝군요




Prof: Yet you still believe in Him?

교수: 아직 하나님을 믿나?




Student : Yes.

학생:네




Prof: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable

protocol, science says your GOD doesn't exist.

What do you say to that, son?

교수: 이러한 경험, 시험, 명백한 의식으로 과학은 하나님은 존재하지 않다고 말하고 있네 이것의 대해 어떻게 말하겠나?




Student : Nothing. I only have my faith.

학생: 아무것도 없습니다 난 단지 믿을뿐입니다




Prof: Yes. Faith. And that is the problem science has.

교수: 그렇지, 믿음 그것이 과학이 가지고 있는 문제지




Student : Professor, is there such a thing as heat?

학생: 교수님, 열이라는 것이라는게 있지요?




Prof: Yes.

교수: 그렇네




Student : And is there such a thing as cold?

학생: 그럼 차가운 것도 있지요?




Prof: Yes.

교수: 그렇네




Student : No sir. There isn't.

학생: 아닙니다 없습니다.




(The lecture theatre becomes very quiet with this turn of events.)

교실은 갑자기 변한 논쟁내용으로 조용해 졌다




Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat,

superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat.

But we don't have anything called cold. We can hit 458

degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can't go any

further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is

only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We

cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the

opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.

학생: 교수님, 교수님은 많은 열을 가지고 계실수 있죠? 더 많은 열과 굉장히 많은열과 메가 열과 하얀 열과 조금한 열과 혹은 열이 없는것도. 하지만 우리는 냉이라는것을 가지고 있지 않습니다. 우리는 마이너스 458도 까지 만들수있습니다 하지만 더 이상 갈수없죠 냉이라는 단어는 다만 열이 없을때 할수있는단어입니다. 우리는 차가운것을 잴수 없습니다. 열은 에너지 입니다 냉은 열의 반대가 아닙니다 다만 열이 없을때 쓸수있는 단어입니다




(There is pin-drop silence in the lecture theatre.)




Student : What about darkness, Professor?

Is there such a thing as darkness?

학생: 그럼 어둠은 어떻죠? 교수님?

어둠이라는게 있나요?




Prof: Yes. What is night if there isn't darkness?

교수: 그렇네, 어둠이 없다면 밤은 무엇인가?




Student : You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence

of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light,

flashing light....But if you have no light constantly,

you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? In reality,

darkness isn't. If it were you would be able to make darkness

darker, wouldn't you?

학생: 교수님은 또 틀리셨습니다, 교수님 어둠은 무언가가 없을때 나타나는 증상입니다. 교수님은 조금한 빛을, 보통빛을 환한빛을 플라쉬 빛을 가질수 있습니다. 하지만 그 어떤 빛도없을때 아무것도 가질수 없습니다 그럴때 우리는 어둠이라고 하죠 안그래요? 어둠은 우리가 어둠가운데 더한 어둠을 만들수 없습니다. 안그런가요?




Prof: So what is the point you are making, young man?

교수: 포인트가 뭐지?




Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.

학생: 교수님, 제가 말하고자 하는것은 당신의 철학적 지식에 문제가 있다는 말입니다




Prof: Flawed? Can you explain how?

교수: 문제? 왜그런지 설명해 줄수 있겠나?




Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality.

You argue there is life and then there is death,

a good God and a bad God.

You are viewing the concept of God as something finite,

something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a

thought. It uses electricity and magnetism,

but has never seen, much less fully understood either one.

To view death as the opposite of life is to be

ignorant of the fact that death cannot

exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life:

just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor.

Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?

학생: 교수님말에는 이중성이 있습니다.교수님은 생명과 죽음이 있다고 논쟁하셨습니다 그리고 좋은 하나님과 나쁜 하나님을 말하셨습니다. 교수님은 우리가 잴수 있는 한정되 있는 하나님을 보고 계십니다. 과학은 사람의 생각을 설명할수 없습니다 과학은 전기와 자력을 사용합니다 하지만 절대 본적도 없고 이해할수도 없습니다 죽음을 인생의 반대로 보는게 어리석지만 죽음은 독립적으로 존재합니다. 죽음이 생명의 반대가 아닙니다 생명이 없을때 할수 있는말입니다. 말씁해 주시죠 교수님, 교수님은 진화론을 학생들에게 가르치십니까?




Prof: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process,

yes, of course, I do.

교수: 만약 자네가 말하는게 자연적인 과정을 말한다면 맞다네. 당연히 그렇게 가르치지..




Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?

학생: 진화를 본적이 있으신가요? 교수님 눈으로?




(The Professor shakes his head with a smile,

beginning to realize where the argument is going.)

교수는 고개를 내 저었다 그리고 미소를 지었다 비로소 이 논쟁이 어디로 가는지 깨달았다.




Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of

evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process

is an on-going endeavour, are you not teaching your

opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?

학생: 지금껏 아무도 이 진화의 과정을 본적도 없고 증거가 있는것도 아닙니다 교수님은 교수님의 의견을 가르치지 않나요? 그럼 교수님은 과학자가 아니고 설교하는 사람인가요?




(The class is in uproar.)

교실이 갑자기 소란스러워졌다




Student : Is there anyone in the class who

has ever seen the Professor's brain?

학생: 이 교실에 있는사람중에 혹시 교수님의 뇌를 본사람있나요?




(The class breaks out into laughter.)

교실은 웃음바다가 되었다




Student : Is there anyone here who has

ever heard the Professor's brain, felt it,

touched or smelt it?.....No one appears

to have done so. So, according to the established rules

of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says

that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how

do we then trust your lectures, sir?

학생: 그럼 여기서 교수님의 뇌를 들어본사람, 느껴본사람, 만져보고 냄새 맡아본사람 있나요? 아무도 없을겁니다 이러한 룰을 경험으로 과학은 뇌가 없다고 말합니다. 교수님 어떻게 우리가 당신의 수업을 믿을수 있죠?




(The room is silent.The professor stares at the student, his face unfathomable.)

교실은 조용했고 교수는 그를 노려보았다 그리고 그는 알수없는 표정을 지었다




Prof: I guess you'll have to take them on faith, son.

교수: 내 생각엔 자네가 날 믿을수 밖에 없겠네...




Student : That is it sir..

The link between man & God is FAITH.

That is all that keeps things moving & alive



학생: 그것입니다 교수님 사람과 하나님사이를 이어주는 고리는 믿음입니다 그것은 내가 살아가는동안 항상 지니고 있어야 할것입니다.




사실 이글처럼제가 살아간다면 참다행이지만 안탑깝게도 저를포함 많은 기독교인들이 저런 삶을 살지않고있지요.....저도 저렇게 살아보려고 조금씩 노력하는거죠....(저도 저사람처럼 아직 하나님의 음성을 못들었습니다)


근데요. 제가 한마디만하죠. 아무리 좋은일 100가지를해도 나쁜일 1가지를 하면 받아들이는 입장에서는 그 나쁜한가지만 기억하게됩니다.

제주의에 좋은 분들도 많이 있습니다. 그건 교회를떠나서 사회어디서나(종교,문화,사회,기타등등)있는일입니다..

안좋은것만 찾아 보면 계속 안좋은것만 보게됩니다.그리고 좋은것만 보려고 노력하면 계속 좋은쪽으로 생각하게되구요.....

제가생각하는 종교는 인본주의나 과학으로는 설명이 안되는 거 같습니다. 그걸 '믿느냐' '안믿느냐' 이차일뿐이죠.... (안 믿는 사람을 부정하거나 부인하지않습니다)
그게 세상이거든요..........(저는 콩쥐님과 다르게 예수님을 성인로 생각하지않습니다)
