David "Jose" Rubio is well known for his work with Julian Bream in the 1960s. This guitar then is the quintensential Rubio since it is dedicated to the great Maestro on the underside of the soundboard in pencil: ``Guitarra No. 30 Construida especialmente para el gran artista Julian Bream. Ano: 1965 Nueva York (signed) Jose Rubio.`` In addition to this, it is also one of the finest David Rubio guitars we have seen. The workmanship is splendid, materials are absolutely exquisite including perfectly quartersawn European spruce and dramatic Brazilian rosewood. The sound is crystal clear and bell like. It has plenty of power and, oddly enough, even sounds good when playing rasguedos. Apart from some expert repolishing, this guitar has no cracks or repairs. We consider this instrument both historic and highly collectable.
