The following guitarist performed works of Barrios.
Felipe Sosa
Galo Herrera
Raymundo Barrera
Jesus Benites
Sila Godoy
Richard Stover did not rediscover Barrios! Sila Godoy was the master of
Barrios' works. Stover was not the first to publish
Barrios. I have many old copies of Barrios' published works from south
america with some originals that are fingered by himself.
What R. Stover did do was mass market the collected copies he located
throughout latin america.
With regard to the referenced 12 page concert program I can make a copy
of my original if someone wants to scan it and provide it to the list or
web page.
Another item: "Con el ESTUDIO DE CONCIERTO, en La mayor, Agustin Barrios
se adelant cien anos en la guitarra"

This is the other composition that Barrios wrote for non-twits to
develop both hands with specific barre and right hand melodic
control in the a finger. Most published versions have had the
fingerings revised for reasons know only to themselves which
makes this composition very difficult. The single most important tech.
study I've ever mastered and still play almost every other day.
Sila Godoy was scheduled to perform Barrios at the White House for J.
Kennedy in December 1963. The events of November
1963 and the fact that Sila couldn't speak English allowed others to use
his vast knowledge of Barrios' tech,. and original scores
to their own ends.
The classical guitar world at large ( that herd of guppies) followed
Segovia's opinion regarding Barrios, not having a mind of their
own, until J. Williams recorded the first album. Then it seems those
old heads rediscovered their affection for Barrios.
In Costa Rica some 6 months ago I learned of two more unpublished
Barrios compositions in private hands.
With Barrios it was only a matter of time. In this day there exist
other guitarist who neither concern themselves with the herd of the
classical guitar world at large or the local gentry, that are simply
awesome. The real trick is locating them and getting them to
talk to you. These are not the self promoting eager to display types,
rather secretive and self-contained, content with their art.
As another posted this past week, guitarist in the future face a raising
of the bar. Just how many times can the serious concert going public
hear those same old war horses.
